As a result of a isolation transformer, upstream-connected residual-current circuit-breakers can not detect any insulation errors occurring. These insulation defects lead to potential hazards for the patients or the operating personnel. The insulation monitor observe the resistance between the two shielded, conductive contacts of the outlet socket. If this resistance get changed, for example by short circuit, an insulation fault is signaled optically (LED) and acoustic (beep).The isolation monitor MED R 3rd ISOG was developed exclusively for use with the medical isolation transformers of the IMEDe and IMEDi 3rd series. The special feature of this insulation monitor is the integrated temperature monitoring of the isolating transformer in use.

The device is connected via a special interface plug to the devices of the IMED 3rd isolating transformers and can not be operated with other isolating transformers.
