The LMD-32M1MD is the world's first surgical monitor to receive VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification (as of January 2025). The extremely high peak luminance of 1850 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 are achieved through Sony's advanced local dimming technology (Backlight Master Drive), ensuring exceptional visual clarity, essential for minimally invasive procedures. The unique anti-reflection technology combines a low-reflection and anti-glare surface treatment to minimize screen reflections in brightly lit operating rooms.


Experience exceptional clarity & visual details

Sony's advanced local dimming technology (Backlight Master Drive) precisely controls the dense array of mini-LEDs in the panel's backlight to ensure stunning brightness and high contrast. LED backlight sources are controlled independently in bright and dark areas of the image. This significantly improves black reproduction by turning off LEDs while using the saved power to increase peak brightness in the brightest areas. As a result, the LMD-32M1MD achieves peak brightness levels of over 1,850 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.

Wide color scale for realistic visualization

The LCD and signal processing technology used in the LMD-32M1MD achieves a wide color gamut that complies with ITU-R Recommendation BT.2020. This enables better color reproduction for more realistic visualization of surgical images.



Clarity in bright & dark areas

DHDR technology provides surgeons with a clearer view by visualizing a wider range of brightness levels within the same scene, minimizing the loss of fine detail in shadowy areas and overexposed highlights. The LMD-32M1MD can reproduce more detail when receiving and selecting HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) or PQ (Perceptual Quantization) signals, which is enhanced by HDR.

MMinimized screen reflection in brightly lit operating rooms

Sony's unique anti-reflection technology, used in the LMD-32M1MD, combines two technologies to suppress reflections. Low Reflection reduces the amount of reflected light and minimizes reflections from external light sources. This is further reduced by an anti-glare surface treatment that diffuses incoming light. By creating a slightly rough surface on the display, this anti-glare surface maximizes the dispersion of incoming light and minimizes reflections. By combining these advanced surface treatment technologies, the LMD-32M1MD achieves balanced dispersion of incoming light, reducing reflections and minimizing glare—ensuring images with extremely high contrast and true-to-life color reproduction.


Automatic adjustment of the panel brightness to the lighting conditions

The LMD-32M1MD is equipped with a built-in light sensor that automatically adjusts the panel brightness to changing light conditions in the operating room. This ensures visibility even in cases where darker room lighting is required, such as during procedures like ICG navigation surgery.

Suitable design for medical facilities

The monitor's smooth surface and streamlined back panel facilitate cleaning. The monitor's slim bezel and rounded corners support easy integration into the operating room. The front of the LMD-32M1MD is splash- and dust-resistant to IP45, while the entire monitor is IP32-rated.

Versatile connection options

The LMD-32M1MD offers a comprehensive selection of input/output connections, including 12G-SDI, HDMI, and DisplayPort. A 5V/1.5A USB Type-C port provides power to connected external devices. There's also a USB Type-A port for exporting/importing monitor settings from one monitor to another via a USB device.

Multi-screen display (PIP/POP)

The LMD-32M1MD offers a dual-screen PIP/POP display function, allowing multiple pieces of information to be displayed on a single screen. Each input source can be displayed separately, with individual gamma values assignable.

Optimal viewing angles

The displayed image can be rotated 180 degrees or flipped horizontally. This ensures optimal visibility for surgeons and clinical teams in the operating room, regardless of the orientation of a connected endoscopic camera.
